Mammoth Campground is a National Park campground near the northern entrance and is the only campground in Yellowstone that is open all year round. In May 2014 it was $20 a night (cash or credit card) with a maximum of 30 nights per year within Yellowstone NP. The sites are spacious and nearly all are pull-throughs. We have a 35' 5th wheeler and we had plenty of room in front and behind for our truck. We can't fit in the other campgrounds within Yellowstone. The sites are not reservable, so it's first-come first-serve, which isn't an issue in May, as there are plenty of vacant sites here. There are many water taps around the park for you to get water that is drinkable. There is no dump station, but apparently there is one 5 miles away in Gardiner that you have to pay $5 or down to Madison campground where it is free. The sites are quiet, clean and have fire rings. There are a number of clean restrooms in the campground with flush toilets, cold water, soap and electric hand dryers. You can use your generator during the hours of 8am to 8pm, quiet time in the campground is 10pm to 6am with a $50 fine for disobeying. Elk and bison often roam the grounds and keep the grass down! The road around the campground is sealed, while the sites are gravel with plenty of space in between. The town of Gardiner is five miles away and Mammoth Hot Springs is a few minutes by car or you could walk.
We stayed here in a 5th Wheel. | | Comments (0) |

| Not the prettiest of sites but well located for exploring the north park | |
Tent sites are on raised platforms with gravel pads. Doesn't feel very natural but probably good in the rain. Site is fairly close to a road meaning some noise in the morning. Mammoth Hot Springs hotel is a few mins drive away and there are showers available there on pay-per-use. Facilities as with any good national park site... flush toilets, water, picnic table, fire pit
We stayed here in a Tent. | | Comments (0) |
