If you didn't make a reservation in advance, don't bother even showing your face. My group and I had been displaced by fires for 48 hours. We couldn't make it to the actual reservations we made so, we were desperate for a place to stay as we were stranded in Missoula. When we arrived trying to find a spot, the first open one we came upon was reserved for accessibility camping until 8 PM. We stopped the car for literally minutes to walk and check the rest of the campground to see if anything was open and then we were going to decide if we wanted to hang out until 8 PM or move on to try and keep searching because we were desperate. Before we even had a chance to discuss anything, an old vile and bald man on a tricycle approached us and started yelling at us, making it very clear that we weren't even welcome. He couldn't be bothered to listen to us and spoke to us like we were idiots, and even tried to ticket us. Let me remind you, we had been stopped for literally minutes, had not unpacked anything out of our car, had not insinuated that we even wanted the campsite, but this man verbally attacked us. He said If we couldn't see the reserved sign with our eyes, then we shouldn't be allowed to drive. This was among many other rude and demeaning comments. The staff was completely unwilling to listen, did not want to help, couldn't be bothered, horrible at customer service, and were very cold. | | Comments (0) |

Beavertail Hill is a good place to stay the night. Right off I90 going west. The flush toilets were clean, the vault toilet at the other side of the campground was suffocatingly smelly because campers were using it as a garbage dump. Drove in to find a note on the windshield of the camp hosts' truck stating he wouldn't be available as he was off duty. This was 2:00 in the afternoon, supposedly check-in time. The parks person helped us out in changing out a campsite because the one we had booked online was not what we expected. Site #8 is a TENT or CAR CAMP too short for even our 12' trailer. Won't use this place again.

| Beautiful setting in nature | |
Many sites have views of lovely river, some have easy access. Can fish and wade into water. Large sites nice and private. May be too 'primitive' for some.
