Good easy getaway place in South Georgia. Best sites are 21 thru 24 with lake views and full hookups. Quiet and pleasant. Sites widely spaced and private, most with light shade.

| Nice small wooded lakeside campground | Quite nice little state park campground. Sites 7, 8, and 9 are nicest waterfront sites. Check-in is not very clear, which is why we didn't give it 4 stars. TIP: You must register at the campground office before going to the campground itself. The office is at a different entrance off Rte 52 and rather far off the highway, so all of that confusion added about 25 minutes to our getting to a site. We just did an overnight while on the road, but it would be a lovely little place for a few days.

| Somewhat ordinary national park campground | Most central location for Acadia and environs. In loop A, we found the sites to be a pretty decent size with decent tree and brush screening. Many of the sites are "backwards" with regards to placement of the fire rings and the one-way roads, so we ended up going in the "wrong" way, but it wasn't a problem. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Generators are only allowed at certain hours, which keeps it pretty quiet. Very woodsy, but without any really great views or easy access to spectacular spots in the park, which is why we rate it 4 instead of 5.

| Convenient to Chautauqua institution | A lot of permanent sites. Many others aren't very level. The short term sites are mostly next to the highway. There is at least lake access.

| Reasonably close to highway | Typical KOA, sites close together without much shrubbery. Has loads to do with pool, bowling, mini-golf. All very clean and well-kept. Friendly, college-age staff. We just stayed overnight and it was a fine stop.

| Friendly, convenient to Death Valley | Not glamorous, but friendly. Close to Death Valley park entrance. Also a short walk to a cute little casino/hotel complex with gas station and candy store. The market doesn't exist anymore, so a dollar store is the only grocery store in town. Sites are gravel, not much shade, but this is the desert. The WiFi was excellent.

| Lovely place, river views | A bit off the highway, but worth it even for an overnight stop. Many sites have river views or even little landings, and most of them are shady. Some sites are awkward to back into, however. It was lovely to sit and watch the river after a long day's drive. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Volunteer staff was friendly.

| Could be great, but needs work | We were the only campers there the first week of September, but still felt safe. A fine overnight spot, or even a couple days. Convenient to I-40, but far enough away to be quiet. A few easy pull through sites with water and electric that have nice trees. Another RV parking area was not so great looking. Unfortunately, bathrooms and showers were not good. Picturesque little lake and fields.

| Friendly, clean overnight stop | A pretty inefficient check in system. I hope they work the bugs out. Very friendly, though. Large sites, so no need to unhitch. Rather noisy between I-40 and old Rte 66. Many dogs were not kept on leashes. A decent view of mountains to the north.

Perfectly fine stop, close to Petrified Forest. Large sites and staggered, so fairly private. Not the prettiest campground, but a nice open big-sky kind of sunset view. A bunch of petrified wood right there at the office, even! Good WiFi, coffee and muffins in the morning.
