A friend of mine and his wife just had a baby this month, and judging from the way he's been talking, it looks like he's really itching to get out again. He's planning taking his family on a trip this coming July, when the baby is about four months old. His wife is not really too keen about the idea, especially since they also got four year old twins. She told us her biggest concern is that they will end up being a handful, and that their camping neighbors will find them to be a nuisance. Our youngest was 3 years old when I took her with us camping.
Any advice on camping with infants and really young kids I can pass on to my friend will be a big help. |

It can be done, but Dad has to be a huge help to Mom, especially with the twins, as Mom will have her hands full of new baby. I'm not really sure who's going to have time enough to enjoy the trip. |

Yes, it's possible. I've seen quite a lot of campers bring toddlers and really small babies with them on the campground. Like what bukhrn said, it's all about cooperation on your friend's part and the mom. Bring along a pack and play crib as well. That way, the baby can spend time outdoors with you. It would also help if you bring along his/her usual beddings and pillows. It would make them feel more comfortable while they are on the road. |

Depends on how much experience they have camping with the older kids first. |

If his wife is not really too keen about the idea, it might be because she's not quite confident that she will be able to attend to all the needs of the kids. That's very important if you're camping with children regardless of their age or how many they are. Any chance perhaps that he would convince his wife to go camping, even for a weekend on his own just to get rid of the cabin fever? |
