| Clean, quiet, and well-kept. | This is a clean, well-kept campground that is quiet and dark at night, so it is great for listening to wildlife and stargazing. It is easy to access and navigate, and utilities all work well. Site 19 has the most privacy, if that is important to you. There is a hiking trail, Texas state longhorn herd, and fort tours. No OTA TV or Verizon service. Nice place to stay for a day or two.

This is a very nice park. Scenic, well-maintained, and clean. Roads are easy to navigate and parking is easy. The sites are well separated by thick brush so lots of privacy. Water pressure is high at 85 PSI, so bring your regulator. All utilities worked well and were close by. Lots to do with hiking, fishing, boating, mini golf, etc. Nice cabins are being remodeled right now. Some downsides while we were there included utility company traffic through the park as they replaced some power poles, and some closed trails and machinery noise while they clear brush from a large portion of the property. Hopefully this will all go away soon though. It was easy to pick up multiple local TV stations, and we had Verizon cell service, although it was only 10 Mbps download and 7 Mbps upload with 2 bars. Most campsites are level and have nice tables, fire rings, and grills. There is currently a burn ban, but we were still allowed to have charcoal or wood fires in the pedestal grill. The park hosts kept the place clean, and they have contactless check-in. There were lots of birds. We heard owls and coyotes calling at night. Very nice natural setting, yet has food, gas, and groceries just a few miles away. The nearby Roadhouse Bastrop is a great place for burgers and sandwiches, and there is a Buc-ee's convenience store less than 4 miles away for supplies.

This park is easy to navigate and has great scenery. The trees and lake are beautiful! Utilities work well. The full hookup campsites are VERY close together and are strangley set up. Our fire ring was actually closer to our neighbor's table than it was to ours! The other neighbor's table was right outside our RV window, and was also right next to our sewer connection!
We also happened to be there right during someone's family renuion/retirement party, and they had all the sites in the entire loop reserved! They were nice, but people were constantly walking through our campsite. This also highlighted the fact that there is no enforcement of the rules there. Rules regarding keeping dogs on leashes, number of vehicle per site, number of people per site, etc. were not enforced. We were there for a week and never once saw a park ranger. The hosts drove through once a day, but never addressed these issues. Speaking of hosts, one showed up on a riding mower and started mowing our campsite while we were outside cooking breakfast! I realize they have to mow, but our site had no tall grass, and all he did was kick up dust onto everything! He did stop when I asked, but I can't believe he did it to begin with! And there were other areas that needed mowing much more that ours!
There are lots of small birds to watch here, and easy access to the lake. The tent campsites have great views of the lake, and the sites without full hookups

| Not crazy about this park. | We weren't crazy about this park. While it is on a nice lake, the sites are way too close together, and the rules are not enforced at all. Rules regarding keeping dogs on leashes, number of vehicles per site, number of people per site, and quiet hours are not enforced. We never saw a park ranger or host even on a drive-through. Some people may like this scenario, but we don't. Utilities work well, and sites are gravel/dirt.

| Nice beach and ship watching! | This park is easy to get to and easy to navigate. No tree branches to dodge. (But also no shade.) All utilities work well. Over 70 OTA TV stations available. The back in sites are short but nicely spaced. The pull through sites are longer but close together. There are lights in the park that keep it pretty lit up at night, so be prepared for that. The showers, restrooms, and laundry area are rustic, but clean. Hosts are friendly and helpful. . The beach is nice, and this time of year you have it pretty much to yourself. The LNG plant and ship channel are right next door, so there is lots of fun ship watching, but you also get some noise from the plant and the trains.
There are some hiking trails on site, and a bird sanctuary a few blocks away.

| Nice views of the lake, and convenient to Waco. | Friendly and helpful hosts greet you at the gate. Park is locked from 10PM to 6AM, so you can't enter during those hours. Roads are easy to navigate but there were some low hanging branches at the entrance to our loop which contacted the top of our trailer. Sites are level and about 50% of them have some shade. Some have nice views of the water. Restrooms/showers were clean but extremely hot inside. Water pressure was 80 psi so bring a regulator for your RV. Also, there was no water for about 3 hours due to a leak. Electricity also went out for a few minutes. Much of the park was closed due to flood damage, but is scheduled to reopen in September. Park is very convenient to Waco, and is a good place to watch general aviation aircraft. There is also a good ramp for boaters.

Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly gatekeeper who checked us in and gave us directions to our site. Entrance fees are charged in addition to your campsite fees and collected upon arrival at the park. The entrance fees are as follows per person per day: • Adults - $5 • Children (12 and younger) - FREE • Seniors (65 and older) - $2 • Disabled - $2 Roads are easy to navigate and so is parking. Most sites have a view of the lake in the distance. Good space between sites but no privacy. Park was well groomed and full of wildflowers while we were there. Most sites have shade for the picnic tables, grills, and fire rings, but not for the RVs. Many are not very level. Utilities in great shape. Activities include swing-sets, swimming, fishing, mini-golfing, and kayaking. Rentals available on site. When the lake is full the waterline is very close and there is a nice crushed granite beach. Ice and firewood is available on site. Online regulations require leashes for pets, but these are not published on the paperwork you get upon arrival, and do not seem to be enforced. The county park next door has a boat ramp, and on the weekends, crowds of people who like to blast their music and car horns. And speaking of noise, there is a large amount of traffic noise from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM on the nearby, busy county road which is only 100 feet from some campsites. Groceries, fuel, restaurants, boat rentals, etc. are available ten minutes a

Rangers and host are friendly. Freshly paved roads are easy to navigate. Utilities work well. Sites have a good amount of space between them, but are slightly unlevel. Newly built showers have 2 for men, 2 for women, and 2 for families. Nice hiking trails and boat ramp. Park is quiet at night, but has considerable traffic and train noise during the day, including a boom every time a vehicle crosses the nearby highway bridge. Nice stay in spite of picking up a few ticks.

Entrance is a couple miles outside of town. There is a gate which is locked from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, but they will give you a code to use in case you need to come or go while it is locked. Be prepared to drive through a long, low-water crossing to get to the campgrounds. It will most likely have some water going over the dam, depending on recent rainfall. Utilities worked well, but water pressure is 90 PSI, so bring your regulator! Many sites are not level, so bring your leveling blocks! Showers in the Live Oak Campground were rather dingy and had no place to put your belongings other than on the wet floor! Groceries and restaurants are a couple miles away in town. Most campsites have good privacy with vegetation between sites. It was nice and quiet while we were there. Lots of deer wandering throughout the park. We heard coyotes and owls every evening. There is lots to do in this park including hiking, biking, fishing, boating, rock climbing, and horseback riding. Red and blue trails are scenic, but also fairly rugged. Be sure to check out Penitentiary Hollow, it is very scenic.

Entrance is in town, no gate, roads are easy to navigate. Utilities worked well, water pressure was perfect at 50-55 PSI. Many sites are not level so bring your leveling blocks. Nice, shaded picnic tables at sites. There is only one restroom/shower building which has to be shared by all of the campgrounds! Hate to see what this is like on a busy summer day! Lots of interesting historic buildings to explore. Several nice trails. Equestrian camping and lake swimming a few miles away in separate section of park. Groceries and restaurants a couple miles away in town. Quite a bit of traffic noise from the nearby highway and some machinery noise from nearby oil fields. In spite of the negatives, we did enjoy our stay.
