Beautiful Views

There are lots of lovely views and interesting trails to enjoy. The sites are adequately sized and had electric and water hookups as well as wi-fi. This place attracts a huge crowd in the summer which is not surprising given how beautiful this place is and how close to the river so go in the off season,

We stayed here in a 5th Wheel.

One of a Kind!!
May 31, 2011
This is a 'must do' park at least once in every Texan's life! Garner was first established in the '30's by the CCC, and it's been going strong ever since! Some families have been 'tripping' there for decades! Fun in the day: tubin' on the Rio Frio (which means 'cold' in Spanish -- and it is!), fishing, snorkeling in the clear water, wading, just swimming and hangin' out, kayaking, etc. Fun at night: The Dance at the Pavilion, where everyone from 3 to 103 dances under the moonlight to the jukebox songs!! There will be a line at the showers between 5-7 or 8 as everyone gets ready to meet their next heartthrob at The Dance. Old Garner section is always crowded and in the thick of the action; New Garner is quieter and more laid-back. Always 100% booked in the summer so reserve early or try a day or two before you can go!!

We stayed here in a Travel Trailer.

Dependable fun for RV camping
December 19, 2009
Garner is always dependable to be clean and have nice sized sites. Their restrooms are very ample and usually not too far from your site. Their cabins, although I haven't used them look cozy and clean too. I always appreciate that the trees are trimmed up enough to not interfere with antenna or awnings. Last time we stayed in site 134 and had a little difficulty backing in because of the angle of the site to the road. At times the large groups that go there are a little noisier than I prefer but it usually doesn't last too long. Lots of hiking, beautiful river frontage, bike riding and a putt-putt golf course. Pets welcome. If you're staying longer than a few days there's always the inconvenience of moving to the dump station.
