| A nice, well-maintained park | Very clean and very peaceful. Well-maintained. The park rangers roam regularly. They're quite friendly and helpful. It's quite a hike to the lake from the campsites. You need a Wisconsin State Park sticker to get in.

I think of this campground as a great place for people who want to go camping but are not exactly keen about the great outdoors. It's close enough to town to make you not feel isolated, but it does have that woodsy feel, with the redwood trees surrounding you and all. The campsites are decently sized but too close together for privacy. Some sites are located too close to the road so they get traffic noise. The facilities are clean and well-maintained. It has a station for washing up, restrooms and hot-water showers. Dogs are welcome except for the aggressive breeds. The manager takes his job seriously and boots out people who disturb quiet time at night. So if you want to party the night away, this won't be a good place for you to stay. Otherwise it's a nice enough campground, a midway point for people who want to camp but aren't big on roughing it out.

| Great mountain camping experience | We camped here for a star party recently and all I can say is this campground is gorgeous. The views everywhere are lovely. They've also got clean bathrooms. Even though it's quite noisy in the daytime when the campground is full (you can hear what your neighbors are talking about pretty clearly), the rangers do make the rounds come 10 PM to hush everyone up.

The state park itself is worth the visit but the stay in the campground wasn't. It's quite a climb up a steep hill from the parking lot, and that can be tough towing your gear. The sites are too close together with nothing to separate them, so no privacy whatsoever. Even worse, the site is right by a bike trail so we see bikers going past us all the time. As much as I'd love to visit this state park again, I don't think I'll camp here again.

| A comfortable place to stay | Hilton Park isn't exactly our idea of spending time in the great outdoors. Although it has a few trees and is right by the riverbank, it doesn't have that nature-sy appeal. Having said that, I think it's the next best thing. The sites are spacious, the grounds are clean, and they've got clean restrooms and showers as well as a station for washing dishes. The staff are very friendly and they impose quiet time very strictly. So, this is not a place for hard partying until the wee hours. You can tube on the river or walk a short distance to the beach to swim or sunbathe. We enjoyed our stay here and might visit again.

It was an adventure camping at this park. You just never know what to expect. It was pretty warm the morning we arrived but come afternoon we got caught in a rainshower. Thankfully, the general store within the park is well-stocked and carried tarp so we had some dry shelter. It was also quite cold that night. The camp hosts keep this place as neat as a pin, so the restroom and showers are nice. Raccoons come in swarms so keep your food secure.
Sites are fine, with fire rings and picnic tables

Like most parks in Big Sur, Andrew Molera SP has really gorgeous views you can enjoy whether you're sitting still at your campsite or hiking the trails. Simply marvelous, a photographer's dream. We're just sad they don't allow groups larger than four to stay in one site now. Dogs are a definite no-no. We camped here before and we had to leave our dogs behind this time. The campsites are rather small. There are only pit toilets and faucets for washing up but not for drinking. Pack light because you'd have to climb up to the campsite from the parking lot. Make sure you've got enough food and water with you, especially if you plan to go hiking when you stay here. There are no facilities on the trail.

If you want to unplug for a while and spend time camping with the family, especially if you've got kids, Manzanita Campground is a good bet. The kids can play around here and have a taste of the great outdoors. Be warned, though. It's a primitive, tent-only place. Only one car is allowed on site and the sites are close together. The campground has vault toilets, though, which is kept very clean. The hosts can be strict with the campground rules, as well, which is very understandable. All-in-all, it's a lovely place for a getaway.

I've seen reviews on other sites about this campground complaining about the bugs, the lack of water and the smelly outhouses, but hey, that's what roughing it is all about. Ponderosa is one of the best of them in my opinion because it's kept clean and it has water spigots for washing up, even if not all of them work. The sites are decently sized, each with its own firepit and table. The campground is right by a stream so you can go to sleep to the sound of running water. It's very nice. And the views - they're indescribably beautiful, especially on the drive up. For that kind of beauty, I'd endure any discomfort for a couple nights of rough camping. It's an experience not worth missing.

| Lovely place but with minimal privacy | If you want to go to a place where you can relax, go hiking and see some beautiful sights, Limekiln SP is a great place to visit. We stayed five days here, and we spent half of the time laying on the beach. It's isolated and peaceful. The only downside we experienced is the campground is small, and the sites close together. So privacy can be an issue. There are restrooms and showers with warm water, but no electricity. All in all a nice place; not great, but very nice.
