| Site description inaccurate | We reserved site 52 because it was described as having a 50 foot driveway, it would accommodate a 40 foot camper, and it had only a slight grade. When we arrived, we found that the site had only a 40 foot driveway and it had a pretty steep grade with ditches next to the road and driveway. There were no other sites available for our size rig, so we had no choice but to camp at this site. It was extremely difficult to back in our 35 foot fifth wheel. In fact, we had to go off the sides of the road and into the ditches to back it in, causing damage to both our truck and camper. The campgrounds also had a lot of garbage in the campfire rings and along the sides of the campsites. The staff at the office (which is in the hotel) were not that friendly either.
We stayed here in a 5th Wheel.

| Beautiful Campsites & Friendly Camp Hosts | Oak Point Campground in Shawnee National Forest is one of the most beautiful campgrounds I have ever camped in considering that I have been camping for over a half century! The sites are very large and private, with nice woods in between all campsites. The grounds are immaculately clean. It is rare for national parks to offer electricity or water, and this campground offers both on quite a few sites. The camp hosts were very helpful and friendly. You could tell they take pride in their work and want everyone to have a wonderful camping experience. Very peaceful place. We camped here in a 35 foot rig. Would highly recommend this campground. We will be back!

| Nice campsites in a lovely setting | This is a very nice campground. Well maintained. Most of the sites are wooded with ample space and privacy. Sites have electricity and water hook-ups. Owners are friendly and helpful. We stayed here the beginning of June and the black flies were out (that is black fly season in the northeast). Lovely setting. Free wifi is included. Would recommend this campground.

We found this park to be absolutely beautiful, camping in the middle of the forest. Sites were plenty big. There's even some pull-throughs and some with full hook-ups. There's a small beach area and nice hiking trails. Even saw a black bear! Camp hosts are friendly and helpful. Visit the ranger station, too, as it has a nice display of animals native to the area. Some sites allow dogs and some sites do not. Limit of 2 dogs per site. I highly recommend this park.

We stayed here over Memorial Day holiday weekend so it was packed. They put us in a site for a 20 foot trailer, even though we told them that we had a 28 foot fifth wheeler. The scenery was beautiful, camping among the pine trees. Walked Watkin's Gorge. Recommend you start from the top of the gorge rather than the bottom--that way you are going down the 800 stairs, rather than going up them.

We stayed here the beginning of June, before the prime season. Not too crowded. Sites are small, but adequate enough for our 28 foot fifth wheeler. Enjoyed the hiking trails, especially the one along the ocean. Cadillac mountain was cloud-covered so we were not able to see the 360 degree view from there. Rangers were knowledgable and helpful; they strictly enforced quiet hours. We recommend taking Route 198 to get to Route 3, so you avoid Bar Harbor. The streets in Bar Harbor are crowded and narrow--not great if you're pulling a trailer.

We stayed here over the 4th of July weekend. Even though it was the holiday, it wasn't overcrowded. Sites are a nice size and trees provide some shade. Camp hosts were very helpful. The children seemed to enjoy the small beach area. Would come again.

This is a beautiful campground. Sites are good sized and shaded with large oak trees. I'd recommend the sites overseeing Bull Shoals Lake, as they have electric & great views. If you like boating, this lake is awesome. It's large & uncrowded. The water is clean and warm for swimming, too. The lake does fluctuate, however, so sometimes tricky using the boat dock. Bring tick & chigger spray.

Sites are spaced well & are good sized. Plenty of things to do: hiking, fishing, biking, kayaking. Lots of wildflowers. Facilities clean. Helpful rangers on duty 24/day. Gates close at 9:30 pm. Can hear traffic from Winfield Road.

Will using an electric heater in a truck camper that is connected to 30 amp service drain the camper's battery?
